INSTITUTE FOR SUSTAINED CREATIVITY

Mentorship

Austin Thomas
Artist, Curator, Educator, and Gallery Director

I am a mentor who enjoys working with visual artists at all stages of their careers, from high school and college students to emerging and established professionals.

My approach is rooted in collaboration, thoughtful dialogue, and close engagement with an artist's unique goals, ideas, and creative process. Drawing on my experience as an artist, curator, educator, and gallery director, I help artists navigate both the conceptual and practical aspects of sustaining a creative practice, including professional development, exhibition planning, career strategy, and audience engagement. I particularly value the opportunity to take deep dives into an artist's work, asking questions, exploring possibilities, and helping them identify new directions and opportunities.

Mentorship, for me, is a dynamic exchange that supports artistic growth, builds confidence, and empowers artists to develop sustainable and meaningful careers.
