Deborah Oster Pannell
Writer, Editor, Curator, Musician, Interdisciplinary Arts Producer
I’ve been involved in the arts for as long as I can remember. I got my start at a young age in dance and music, as a flute player. Later, I worked as a DJ and went into theatre and film. Along the way, I was always writing and performing. I worked in event production and did a lot of freelance work as a writer and editor with my company, Project Mavens. Eventually, I moved into the visual art world, where I managed an art gallery in Chelsea (C24 Gallery) for six years. I still write and play the flute.
Now I am the Curatorial and Artist Relations Director for ARTMoney Society, a private cultural strategy studio shaping the long-term value and legacy of artists and collections. I work directly with emerging and established artists to help build their careers as we curate exhibitions and associated programming, foster relationships with collectors, and create other opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
I am passionate about creativity in all forms, both as an instrument of personal expression and a tool for building community. Mentorship for me is an opportunity to share the lessons I’ve learned throughout my varied career. I’m excited to help artists be able to communicate effectively about their work, navigate some of the more subtle nuances of building relationships, and discover the path that best suits their unique talents and capabilities.
